Collège de France Egyptology Library

The Egyptology Library is specialized in Egypt from the Predynastic period to the Roman era. Holdings cover a wide range of disciplines including philology, linguistics and paleography (hieroglyphic, Hieratic, Demotic and Coptic), epigraphy, the history and archeology of Egypt and Nubia, and the portrayal of Pharaonic Egypt from the fall of paganism to the present. 
In 2008, the library was bequeathed the Jean Leclant collection. The collection, estimated at some 12,000 volumes, is currently being assessed, classified and restored.<p>The library also holds the academic and scientific archives of former Collège de France Egyptology chairs, and of French and foreign Egyptologists, including photographic and video archives. </p>

Access terms

The library is open to researchers, university faculty, doctoral, and post-doctoral students, on recommendation from their research supervisor. The Director may grant non academic scholars access on request, on a case by case basis.
