Arkyves is both a unique database of images and texts and a meeting place for everyone who wants to study imagery and publish about it. All visual and textual sources are made accessible with the help of the multilingual vocabulary for cultural content of the Iconclass system. By using this system, it has been made possible to find and retrieve images and texts from various sources on a specific topic. Currently, Arkyves provides access to almost 900,000 images, texts, etc. from libraries and museums in many countries, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD), the Herzog August Bibliothek in Wolfenbüttel, and the university libraries of Milan, Utrecht, and Glasgow. More collections will follow in the near future. The database also contains a link to the images available in open access.

arXiv is an open-access archive of electronic preprints containing over 2 million scientific articles in fields such as physics, mathematics, computer science, quantitative biology, quantitative finance, statistics, electrical engineering, and systems, as well as economics.

Accessible within the framework of the National Licenses, the Early English Books Online (EEBO) database offers the digitized version of the entirety of printed materials (books, journals, pamphlets, almanacs, etc.) published between 1473 and 1700 in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and the British colonies of North America, as well as works in the English language printed elsewhere during the same period. Among the 125,000 documents in the corpus, 25,000 are digitized in text mode, making it possible to search for occurrences.

The corpus includes digitized collections of documents from the National Library of Florence’s holdings (15th-17th centuries), organized according to four themes:

  • The Nenci Aldine Collection, which gathers more than 770 editions printed by Aldo Manutius and the Aldine Press, a famous printing house founded in Venice in 1494.
  • Volumes of particular scientific and historical interest due to the marginal annotations indexed in the database: 64 copies (16th-17th centuries), some of which include Galileo’s annotations.
  • The incunabula collection: nearly 1,200 volumes, including the first editions of works by Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio, as well as the collection of the preacher Savonarola.
  • The collection of sacre rappresentazioni: more than 780 editions (16th-17th centuries) of the religious theatrical genre developed in the 15th century in Tuscany.

EDP Sciences is a French scientific, technical, and medical publisher jointly owned by the French Physical Society, the Chemical Society of France, the Society of Applied and Industrial Mathematics, and the French Optical Society. The corpus acquired under the National Licenses includes 90 journal titles, often from their first issue up to 2012, including the prestigious Journal de Physique and Le Radium.
